Dancing On Ice

Every month, here on this show, we hear from one of Britain’s most successful musicians, Paul Farrer.
Ìý
Now, while you wouldn't recognise his name, Paul's music is played all over the world every single day.
Ìý
Having written the theme to the Weakest Link and Dancing On Ice, Paul is also the musical director to Michael McIntyre's Unexpected Star and The Chase.
Ìý
He writes most of these themes from home, but has also made songs on a beach, on trains and in cars - which he then sends to international orchestras to record!
Ìý
This week, we hear how Paul's frying pan ended up being the backbone to the Dancing On Ice theme!

ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Music Introducing in Redditch

This month's sessions were recorded at the Railway in Redditch, which has become one of the main go-to venues for live music in the area.
Ìý
Every month, we rock up to one of our leading local venues at towns and cities across the region to reflect what's hot on the local scene.

Musicians' Masterclass

How does a new artist get discovered by a big-name manager - and what can they do for a musicians' career?
Ìý
In our Musicians' Masterclass, this week, Huw Stephens chats to Jonathan Dickins - the chap who discovered Adele about the recipe to achieving a worldwide hit.

Woodland sessions

If you go down to the woods, this summer, you could be in for a big surprise...with a variety of local bands playing among the trees!
Ìý
Last year, groups such as the Grimaldi Band, Rattlesnake Jake and the Dharma Bums performed among the owls, on a stage surrounded by fairy lights, logs and hay bales.
Ìý
These intimate gigs, for 20-50 people will be taking place - once again - at Hurcott Pool and the Spennells Valley Local Nature Reserve, in the Wyre Forest, this August.

St Richard's Canal Festival

Droitwich is celebrating St Richard, the Patron Saint of the town, this week - and it's also the 46th anniversary of the start of the Droitwich canal restoration project.
Ìý
So, this weekend, the Canal Festival has taken over the town jam packed with live music, including local choirs, groups and soloists on the marquee stage.
Ìý
There's also a large display of boats moored on the canal in Vines Park, as well as the new ‘Pamela May II’ which will be operating trips throughout the weekend.
