Prison workshops
听
Singer/songwriter Deborah Rose has been leading song and lyric writing workshops at HMP Featherstone, helping inmates express themselves through the power of song.
听
Her work has been so successful, the prisons service paid to record an 8-track album.
听
Earlier this year, Deborah returned from a 6 month tour, promoting her new album in Australia, New Zealand, Africa and America.
听
One of those highlights was being in the presence of the Queen during a writers' retreat in Scotland.
Four new festivals for Worcester
听
The first of the events will be Worcester Light Night, taking place across the city centre on January 16, featuring live performances.
听
The Atmosphere Festival will take place on Saturday, April 25 - focussing on the environment.
听
The third festival, Disrupting the Norm, will take place from July 6 - 11 in 'surprising locations throughout the city'.
听
The fourth new festival is Worcester鈥檚 International Story Festival, which will be held in October.
听
The festivals are funded through a 拢3 million grant awarded to The Arches project by the Department of Culture Media and Sport Cultural Development Fund and will feature live music.
Artist of the Week
听
Sam Ostler is no stranger to big performances, having played to thousands at the O2 Arena in London with disco sensation The Stylistics.
听
We loved his music so much that we passed it to every single local radio station across the country!
听
His influences include Elton John, The Beatles, U2, Keane, ELO, Kenny Rogers and Coldplay.
Malvern Winter Gardens
听
From the early '60s, for a period of around 30 years, Malvern Winter Gardens rocked to the sounds of bands such The Jam, The Kinks, The Who, Pink Floyd, Motorhead, Hawkwind and many more, some of whom were in their infancy at the time.
听
Local charity Rock Around the Hills created an interactive exhibition, thanks to a 拢60,000 grant, celebrating the story of rock, punk and progressive rock at the Winter Gardens from 1961 to 1990.
听
The display features more than 400 posters, tickets, flyers and fanzines, as well as recorded memories from audience members, musicians and promoters who were all part of the scene.
听
Having already been at Malvern Library and the Hive in Worcester, the exhibition has now moved to the airwaves - and we're broadcasting some of those memories every Sunday, from 6pm, here on 蜜芽传媒 Hereford & Worcester.

The theatre has now been hosting events at its Tenbury Road location for a quarter of a century - but they'd been campaigning for a facility like this since the '50s, according to the records book.
听
Originally, events had been held in an 'old tin hut' which had been built in 1919 by the Royal British Legion.听But eventually they decided an all-singing, all-dancing venue was what the town needed.
听
