Former Green Bay Packers VP, Andrew Brandt, discusses the team’s decision to pick a quarterback with their 2020 first round pick, and the similarities drafting Aaron Rodgers.

Former Green Bay Packers vice president, Andrew Brant, discusses his former side’s decision to draft quarterback Jordan Love with their first selection in the 2020 NFL Draft.

The Packers decision to select a quarterback had stark similarities to the drafting of current starter Aaron Rodgers 15 years ago – a choice Brant played a part in making. Rodgers would eventually take over from Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre in 2008.
Speaking with Caroline Barker on Sportshour, the former front office executive and player agent said: “It’s almost déjà vu. I had such flashbacks seeing the Jordan Love pick, because it was 15 years ago when I was in that room (the Packers draft ‘war room’)."

He went on to say: “There’s no chance of Jordan Love taking over from Aaron Rodgers any time soon, but the question is always going to be when (will he take over)?

"This will probably not end pretty, because Jordan Love will play for the Packers and he will likely play before Aaron Rodgers does not want to give up playing. So, that has to be managed and that is a real challenge for the team going forward.â€
