Valour by Annie Qosja; Performed by Sarah Freestone - Violin, ѿý Concert Orchestra
Annie was a Highly Commended Entrant of the ѿý Young Composer 2020 competition
Annie told ѿý Young Composer:
“I wrote 'Valour' for violin, because I wanted to dedicate a piece to all of the soldiers who fought in World War 1 and 2. I think during these times of the pandemic, it's a good opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices that people have made for us in the past, as many of us are making similar ones fighting the hardship of the Coronavirus. The ''Last Post' is a minimalistic melody, but holds so much power, so this also brought about a war-like theme into my mind. I feel the violin is such a regal, majestic and classy instrument so that's why I decided to use it for my composition!”
