The King in Northern Ireland
A Service of Reflection and the King's thanks to the people of Northern Ireland.
On Tuesday, 13th September, King Charles attended a Service of Reflection at St Anne’s Cathedral in Belfast. Speaking at Hillsborough Castle, the Speaker of the Stormont Assembly, Alex Maskey, read out a message of condolence on behalf of the people of Northern Ireland. In response, the King said the late Queen had seen momentous and historic changes throughout her long reign. "My mother felt deeply, I know, the significance of the role she herself played in bringing together those who history had separated and extending a hand to make possible the healing of long-held hurts," he said.
