Constance Wu: 'A good actor expands on the stereotype and humanises it'
Actor Constance Wu gained international stardom with her role in the film Crazy Rich Asians. She says representation in the arts is important – but it doesn’t always have to be positive.
"The harm about stereotypes is not in their existence...it comes when they reduce a person."
Wu has released a book, Making a Scene, in which she discusses her experience with toxic relationships, mental health, and the societal expectations placed on women across the world.
"It's important that we start a conversation," she says, "where we tell young women that it's okay to be yourself."
