What is it like to identify as LGBTQ in Africa today?
On Tuesday, Uganda's parliament passed a bill criminalising anyone identifying as gay, lesbian or transgender. The bill also includes the death penalty in certain cases.
Kenyan authorities have also launched a crackdown on what it described as the "infiltration of LGBTQ agenda in schools." Over 30 countries in Africa still crimalise same-sex relations.
So, what is it like to identity as LGBTQ in different parts of the continent today?
Billy, a trans queer person who lives in Kenya, told us their story.
