Southport Pier still shut one year on
Stretching out into the Irish Sea, Southport Pier boasts being the second longest in Britain
With its Victorian charm, its views across to Blackpool and the chance to have a go on the penny arcades and a cuppa - its no wonder it sees visitors from across the world wander or take the train up and down its wooden pathways
But all of this takes its toll on a pier that dates back to 1860.
Repairs estimated at a cost of 13 million pounds have just begun - having shut it's gates to the public a year ago.
