The Spalding fruit company laser-etching avocados
A fruit supplier in Spalding has come up with a new way to cut down on plastics, by using lasers to etch logos onto fruit instead of printing labels.
Westfalia Fruit say the lasers need less energy than label-printing machinery and there are no discarded labels afterwards.
The process is initially being used on avocados sold by Tesco, but it's hoped it can be applied to other fruit and produce.
