Bridge blunder adds millions to Grantham bypass bill
Grantham's long-awaited Southern Relief Road is now expected to cost an extra £10m to £20m and be delayed by up to a year, after an error was found in the design of a key bridge.
It was discovered that the wind could make the bridge flex and twist out of alignment while being put into place over the East Coast Main Line and the river Witham.
Lincolnshire County Council says it feels 'really let down' by the blunder but was confident it would recover the additional costs from the designers.
