Shirley and Victoria have been growing on their family allotment for eight years; they grow plants in both this and their own garden. Their main motivation for growing is the health benefits they believe they get from their produce.

John, Shirley’s husband, was the driving force behind getting the allotment and Victoria says that most of her skills and knowledge have really come from getting involved in the allotment; she’s learnt as she’s gone along.

Shirley taught Victoria to cook but admits that Victoria is now the real cake specialist in their household.

They make lots of cakes and often incorporate the jam they have made using fresh fruit from their allotment. They love making things and giving them away and often donate their cakes and jams to the local church.

Shirley and Victoria continue their close-knit family ways by running separate cleaning businesses from their shared office in their conservatory at home. Shirley is a very driven mum and proud of all four of her daughters.
