Lilly Jørstad

Mezzo soprano from Norway - 31 years old

Lilly is a Norwegian-Russian mezzo-soprano, born in Astrakhan, Russia, who started singing at the age of 4. She moved with her family to Norway when she was a teenager and finished her Master’s degree at Trømso University in 2012.

That same summer she made her debut as Marchesa Melibea (Il viaggio a Reims) with the Academia Rossiniana in Pesaro and appeared as a soloist at the Mariinsky Academy in St Petersburg. In 2015 she joined the Academy La Scala in Milan and made her debut singing Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia) at La Scala.

Lilly has won several awards and prizes in international competitions including 1st prize in the Concorso Internazionale di Portofino. Among her recent and future engagements are Rosina at the Teatro Argentina in Rome, in Bergen and at the Vienna Staatsoper, Angelina (Cenerentola) at La Scala, Siebel (Faust) at the Opernhaus, Zürich, Meg in a new production of Falstaff in Vienna, and Smeton [Anna Bolena] at Teatro Nacional in Lisbon. In May 2016 she made her debut in the 80th Maggio Fiorentino Festival.

During the summer of 2017 Lilly is touring with Zubin Mehta singing in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. Also in Cenerentola [Stuttgart] and in Il Barbiere di Siviglia [Bavarian State Opera] .
