Coronavirus conversations: Children with autism
Having autism during lockdown: We hear from parents of children in Spain, Chile and India
We are bringing you conversations everyday between people sharing similar experiences during this pandemic. Today, we speak to three parents in Chile, Spain and India discussing the impact lockdown has had on their children, who have autism. They explain how their children seem happier away from the social environment of school, but that they are also being concerned about the impact on social skills. One mother, also with autism, tells us how her therapist has taught her to hug, but that opportunity has currently been taken away by the coronavirus.
We also discuss the World Health Organisation and its role, as it plans an independent review of its response to the coronavirus pandemic. It comes amid the continuing criticism of the organisation by Donald Trump. Our global health correspondent will answer listener questions about the WHO. .
