FRIDAY 26 DECEMBER
Presented by Francine Stock
ANDRAS SCHIFF
In the week of his fiftieth birthday the pianist Andras Schiff talks in an extended interview to Francine Stock.
Renowned for his performances and recordings of the keyboard works of Bach, Schiff left Communist Hungary in his twenties, and quickly established an international reputation for his interpretations of the European classical masterworks.
As he prepares to perform all the Beethoven piano sonatas for the first time, Andras Schiff talks about his relationship with the music of Bach, why he uses different pianos for different composers, and why the behaviour of concert audiences is getting worse.
