Young boy in care

Living In Care

Listen to the item

Gerald Williams was in and out of foster homes from the age of 4 - and taken permanently into care at 11 when his alcoholic mother died, leaving Gerald alone with his two brothers, Geoffrey and Neville.  Social Services took them all in - but despite their pleas to stay together - they were split up.

Gerald feels that he was kicked around like a football when in care ...but worse was still to come - at 19 he was kicked out with no preparation and all alone...

What are your views?  Are all care homes alike?
