The London Marathon 2009I could spend a sizeable portion of this diary telling you every minute detail of my marathon experience this year...but I won't. It would get boring if I were to continually emphasise how flippin' hot it was this year. You would stop reading if I were to mention again that the temperatures were beyond roasting and that many, many runners wilted in the heat. So here it is, the marathon in a nutshell: Cripes. The crowds were, as they always seem to be, amazing. Vast swathes of people cheering you on every step of the way; and that is in no way an exaggeration. ![]() But blimey was it hot. Have I mentioned that? At mile 21 I was really struggling. My body had all but given up and my brain was very annoyed with me - if that makes sense. So from about 22 miles it was run, walk, run, walk, run until that fabulous moment when I crossed the line. Then it's elation, emotion and exhaustion all in one go. And after a few days to think about it all, it is a tantalising incentive to do it all again... Thank you so much for helping to raise £1500 for Whizz Kidz, my charity this year and good luck if you're going to go for it next year; what's stopping you? Send us your marathon stories and photos
