Scots poet Liz Niven chats to Liam Logan

A Kist o Wurds

Available for over a year

One of the finest poets writing in the Scots tongue is Liz Niven and, at home in Dumfries, she reads a poem called ‘Efter ye cam back fae Malawi’ and talks to Liam about her use of Scots. Liz goes into a lot of schools in Scotland and says the children are delighted to hear her speaking Scots: as are her audiences in Beijing… The Luath Press have just reprinted Liz’s book, ‘Stravaigin’, and she introduces and reads her poem ‘Prague’ from the collection. (Broadcast: 25 Nov 2006)
