Boston’s Gay Men’s Chorus Goes Abroad

Boston Calling

Available for over a year

The story of a US choir returning home from a 10-day tour of the Middle East wouldn't normally be newsworthy. But the Boston Gay Men's Chorus isn't just any choir, and the group's recent trip abroad was anything but uneventful. Take, for instance, the cancelled venue in Istanbul. Or the violence that erupted in Taksim Square during a Pride parade. Or the fact that the group's time in Turkey coincided with a landmark moment in America-- the US Supreme Court's ruling that legalised same-sex marriage. Reuben Reynolds, the director of the Boston Gay Men's Chorus, reflects on the experience. Image: The Boston Gay Men's Chorus during a performance. Courtesy of the Boston Gay Men's Chorus
