Stanford on prison attack - 'I broke thirty two bones'

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

Disgraced fraudster Allen Stanford recounts the time he was attacked in a maximum security prison. The Texan, who is serving a 110-year sentence for carrying out the second largest investment scam in US history, cracked his skull, and suffered 32 fractures in his head and face. The 65-year-old required an eight-hour operation and a month to recover, but says he only saw a doctor once and wasn't given any antibiotics or painkillers. In his first interview since 2009, Stanford told the ѿý's sports editor Dan Roan his treatment was “barbaric”. This clip is from 5 Live Sport on Monday 11th January 2016.
