This weekend saw the final of The Apprentice, with Alana Spencer beating rival Courtney Wood to the top spot. She has set up a luxury cake company which she runs from her parent’s house, with one employee so far – her boyfriend. 24-year-old Spencer who left school at 17 to start her business told 5 live “school wasn’t my strongest point - I left school to pursue the dream.” “My mum worked incredibly hard to provide for us – seeing how hard she worked made me realise how hard I have to work,” she told us.
