Late Piers Sellers after cancer diagnosis: 'There’s no time for moping'

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

The British-born astronaut Piers Sellers has died at the age of 61 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Earlier this year he spoke to 5live’s Adrian Chiles about life in space, and his diagnosis. “I’ve had the luck to do so many good things, two of the best things are my kids. I’ve absolutely no complaints, I’ll try and get the absolute maximum out of the life that’s left in me – there’s no time for moping.” Dr Sellers spent 600 hours in space, including four spacewalks. “Worse things happen to all kinds of good people every day – either their much younger than I am, or they haven’t had as much fun – it would be ridiculous to complain,” he added.
