Gene Kelly wanted Debbie Reynolds to play 'Kathy' in the iconic 1952 movie 'Singin' In The Rain' that helped make her a star says his widow Patricia Ward Kelly. Speaking to 5 live's Rhod Sharp, Ms Ward-Kelly said the story that film producer Louis B. Mayer forced Gene to cast Reynolds was "completely false".
