Today

Available for over a year

Philip Hammond has hit back at the OBR over their suggestion that the main gainers of his stamp duty plan for first-time buyers are actually people who already own property. The Chancellor said that on average one million first time buyers will save an average of £1700. Mr Hammond announced in the budget that he was abolishing stamp duty for first time buyers on houses up to £300,000. (Image: Philip Hammond, credit: Getty images)
