Smithdown Road: Curbing anti-social behaviour

Available for over a year

Could your child be fined for their anti-social behaviour on Smithdown Road? Children as young as ten could be fined as part of a plan to tackle anti-social behaviour in an area of Liverpool where the council admits “nothing is working.” Several streets off Smithdown Road in Toxteth could be covered by a new "public space protection order" to try and prevent abusive and intimidating behaviour, street drinking, and loud music being played from cars at night.  A report being considered by councillors says that, despite more resources being focused on the area than other parts of the city by the council and police, anti-social behaviour is still rife. The report also says very young children have been "running riot" outside, unsupervised.
