Why is getting to Liverpool Airport so hard?

Available for over a year

Getting to Liverpool John Lennon Airport has long been a transport headache — with no direct rail link and the nearest station still a bus or taxi ride away. But now, Chancellor Rachel Reeves has announced £100 million for three new “rapid transit” bus routes that will connect the airport to the city centre and stadiums. It’s part of a wider £1.6 billion investment in Merseyside transport. Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram says these new ‘glider’ buses could finally change the game for airport access.
