The day before the London bombings the city was in a celebratory mood, after finding out it had been chosen to host the Olympic Games in 2012. Londoners were riding high on a wave of optimism. Less than 24 hours later, the mood was utterly shattered, as the capital experienced what was to become one worst days in its history.
