US Senate Defies Trump Over Yemen

Newsday

Available for over a year

The US Senate has defied President Trump by passing a resolution calling for an end to American military support for the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen. It directs the president to remove US forces other than those fighting Islamist extremists. There have been protests in the Somali city of Baidoa following the arrest of Mukhtar Robbow former leader of the Al Shabab islamist insurgent group who defected from the Jihadist group last year. He was detained just a week before he was scheduled to run for a regional presidency. The latest test flight by Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic successfully rocketed to the edge of space and back. The firm's SpaceShipTwo passenger rocket ship reached a height of 82.7km, beyond the altitude at which US agencies have awarded astronaut wings.
