Russia warned of economic sanctions if it invades Ukraine

Newsday

Available for over a year

Tensions rise ahead of an online meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Jo Biden with the US threatening economic sanctions over the build up of Russian troops close to the Ukranian border. China has criticised the US diplomatic boycott of February's Winter Olympics over human rights concerns. It called the move a pretentious act. Other governments say they have not yet made a decision on whether they will join the boycott. And troubling news for South Africa’s economy, which is expected to contract in the third quarter.
