The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ has commissioned a team from Sheffield University, led by Professor Danny Dorling, to compile a list of statistics that paint a picture of how out lives and communities have changed in the last 40 years. This is what they show on Teesside.

Population

Overall the population of the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Tees area has fallen by 1.8% between 1981 and 2006. This compares with an increase across the UK of 7.4%.

Across the North East and Cumbria region, the population dropped by half a per cent. For example, there was a 28% increase in population in the Cambridgeshire area and 16% in York.
