'Silk Screens' is a video project exploring how people link their lives in contemporary Britain with their Chinese cultural roots. Video Nation Network ran filmmaking workshops and worked with individuals across the UK to gather a broad picturer of peoples' thoughts and experiences. In the run up to the 2008 Beijing Olympics and as part of the CHINA NOW festival, these films were shown on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Big Screens in Manchester, Birmingham, London and Glasgows. To complement the screenings, the local Chinese communities worked with outdoor events organisers, Emergency Exit Arts, to put on live events displaying traditional and contemporary dance, arts and crafts.
