Books & films
Your parent’s story is also fabulous. I hope that my husband and I will stand by each other and we will be able celebrate our 37th wedding anniversary as well.
I have also been racking my brains for an actress who could portray me in a film but nobody comes into my mind. To be honest, I am not a big film viewer. I do not often watch the box on weekdays because there are mostly serials or soap operas that do not interest me. My favourite programmes are the documentaries and the quiz shows, for example: “Who wants to be a millionaire?” The only thing I regularly watch on TV is the news. I prefer reading topics on the computer or reading books to watching the box. When I last went to the cinema I saw an interesting film called Memoirs of a Geisha directed by Rob Marshall. I saw the film after I had read the book. The film is based on the novel written by Arthur Miller. The book is absolutely brilliant in his description of the customs and rituals of the geisha. Through the details the reader can fully understand the politics, rivalries and traditions of a Japanese geisha. I truly enjoyed reading the book. What I liked the best about it is that it is an excellent love story, drama and history together. During the film I listened to the beautiful music composed by John Williams and performed by Yo-Yo Ma.and I saw the marvellous costumes. I do not often go to the cinema because I always feel disappointed after I see the film. On the whole, I find reading books more interesting than watching films. In spite of this I have a favourite film that I have seen more times. It is Forrest Gump where the main character is played by Tom Hanks. I think that is why he is my favourite actor. He stars in many excellent films and is very popular with the public. These films both got many awards.
I love reading in my spare time. We have quite a lot of books at home. I like reading mainly autobiographies, novels and romances. My favourite writer is Gabriel Garcia Marquez. All of his books are so interesting and exciting that I can not put them down. I love his style and the way he writes. What is your favourite book and film?
When my children were small I always read them stories when I put them to bed at night. They could not sleep without the story.
Csilla is doing well at home. She enjoys her freedom that she does not have to cook, wash and so on. Of course, she helps me in the kitchen and she feeds our pets since she has arrived. She has so much to tell me. She makes me happy just by being here.
Thanks for your comments and I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

As for me I read a lot. I learned how to read at the age of 4 and than I started to read non-stop:)Sometimes I read a lot of junk literature - this is only way to find masterpiece in the pile of papers. However I think that every author is unequaled in his/her own way. Gabriel Garcia Marquez is very interesting person and his book Hundred years of loneliness is one of my favourite .I enjoy reading works from G.B.Shaw to F.Dostoevsky and E.A.Poe .What is my favourite movie? I guess all movies directed by A.Hitchcock.I study psychology and understanding human nature is very challenging.
Anita, Probably the best book I have read in the last three years or so is "The Good Earth" by Pearl S. Buck. It is a long book, but Buck does such a great job at captivating you with her narrative style that she uses her main character for. It is interesting way to learn about China from the late-1890s to the early part of the last century.
I like Yo-Yo Ma ,either.Because he is chinese.
Hallo, First of all i would like to thanks you for writting such a interesting article.
Hi Anita It's nice to see you again. Today is my birthday and I feel rather sad because my 2 close friends are not here with me. They live far away from my country. But I got some presents from my mum and old sister yesterday night. It made me happy. I 've seen the film Forrest Gump 3 times. It's a wonderful film and I also like Tom Hans very much. He've played difference characters in many interesting film. I like detective book and mysterious film (ex: SelockÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½s,Harry Porter, Liêu Trai of China...). But I read them not regular. I also like watching love film such as Titanic,Romeo and Juliet, Hunchback in Madonna church, ... and another film about Jesus Christ. Now I have to go on working. Bye and see you.
when i was in a high school a teache always told us if you want to be a writer or write good essays you must read lots of books and practise every day.i now understand that why your writings are so fluent and they capture my attention all the time.i do like reading books and watching movies. i like watching light-hearted comedies or romantic love stories like Bridget Jones's Diary and Four Weddings and a Funeral.i think the movies are hilarious. i often go to the cinema with my son.he loves animations and he enjoys eating popcorn during the movies.i read my son stories every night and sometimes he asks me to read the same book countless times and if i try to skip some pages he knows some pages missing and ask me to go back. we call the book his Bible. see you soon
I love reading but I do not have only one favourite book neither one favourite author. At the moment I am reading two books : "Disgrace" by J.M.Coetzee and "Writing home "by Alan Bennet. I think they are both really interesting; the first one because it is a dramatic story about an old man and his daughter who are living in South Africa; the second one because it is really funny like many other books of Alan Bennet I like watching film but sometimes I do not understand why some films are successful while I find them really boring, dull For example yesterday I saw "Munich" by Spielberg I think that its screenplay is not well written, incoherent, unbelieavable.
Dear Vy Tran! I wish we could cheer you up on your birthday... I hope your friends will get in touch with you. What did you get from your mum and sister?
Anita I was absolutely shocked finding out that you have been learning English for ONLY 3 years! Your English is great! Do you speak any other languages? You certainly have a talent. You might remember one of my comments, my mum also has a daughter in England so I know how you feel. I will have to catch up with your blog as I was not home for two weeks. I was in Hungary, first time ever, in Budapest, and I loved it. I have been intensively thinking about pronounciation of Hungary words :-)) Best wishes, Eva, Praha
Hi Anita , I think is impossible that any person doesn't like film with Tom Hanks, He uses all powerfull in every film that He play. I read ususally to much,Gabriel Garcia Marquez is so far excellent, his Nickname is Gabo for all colombian people, but I recomend read to Mario Vargas Llosa and Isabel Allende. Have a nice day Anita!
Hi Anita. I'm really impressed by the quality of your English.I've never come across someone with such a great English and so little time of formal learning!! You definitely have a flair for languages. It seems impossible that you must have difficulties in speaking. How come with such a rich vocabulary and accurate grammar?I'm also a book-warm and like you I love Gabriel Garcia Marquez.I read "Hundred Years of Solitude" by him and I found it so magical and real at the same time. In fact, we all have some bits of the Buendia family in us and Macondo seems to be such a picturesque village in the middle of nowhere!! It would be great to see its film adaptation, don't you think so? I'm also a film fan and Forrest Gump is among my favourites.Today, I've just seen Prime with Meryl Steep( she my diva!!) Uma Thurman and Bryan Greenberg, it's a delicious romantic comedy for laughs! Cheerio Monica
Anita, I liked your comment about movies and books. Of corse, by comparing both, it is very difficult to transform a book in a movie. Certanly the best directors and actors will alaways have difficult doing such job. Reading a good book you can imagine different scenary that even a good director can not translate it to a movie.
Hi Anita. I'm agree with you. Book's read book is more interesting than see a movie, iven if the movies is a success. I prefere to read book because I can use my imagination about the story and scene. I've had read "memories of a Geisha" too but I didn't see the movie, yet. I hope to see it soon because I want compare them!! Bye Chiara
