Half-way through my journey

Hello Everybody!

During the weekend I was also thinking that I am half –way through my journey as a blogger. This day last fortnight I wrote my first entry. I think it was an enjoyable phase in my life I went through. I hope that all readers of my blog have similar feelings and I also hope that I did not make them tired. People who have written me comments have motivated me to write my next post. I feel the need to do my best for the next two weeks. Thank you for your kind comments. Thank Lewis for his help.

I would like to show you how difficult it is to speak for me. Last week a lovely person phoned me from the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½. She said that they would call me to ask about my blog, about my feelings and so on in two days. I agreed but I had already known that it will not be easy to me. I revised all sentences which I have learnt about how to make a phone call. When I was called again I was so afraid that I will not understand the questions and I will not able to say any word in English. If I had a few butterflies in my stomach because of my first entry two weeks ago, now I had a million butterflies in my stomach. So, I was called and was listening to the Talk about English on the phone when somebody said: “Anita! Jackie will ask you after three minutes.” And later: “Anita! You will come in two minutes.” I thought that I would not be able to say anything. Now I will show you the outcome on the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½.

To be honest, I am not satisfied with what I said. I had so much more to say when the interview was over and I calmed down. Writing is so much easier than speaking. Fortunately, I signed up to attend an English course again. Hopefully our English teacher will come from England, so we can practise speaking, too. If I will have a chance to speak to Jackie again in the future, I hope that I will do better.

What did you all do last weekend?

On Friday evening we planned that we will visit my father on Saturday in order to help him in the garden. My elder brother lives in the Czech Republic because he got married to a Czech woman. Last weekend he came over with his twins and his daughter. They always stay in my father’s house. Anyway, we planned a big family work together. Unfortunately, on Saturday my husband‘s meeting did not end in good time so when we arrived they had finished all work We were entertained for lunch by my sister-in -law. After lunch we had a lovely time, chatting and tucking into tasty fruit from my father’s garden. The twins are loud and naughty but live far away and when they visit home once a month everyone is trying to spoil them. On Sunday they popped in to see us. They have a sweet tooth and I prepared them apple pie for the trip home. Csilla was helping with baking the apple pie because she wanted to learn to cook some meals and desserts. She seems to be better at making desserts than meals but she is improving.

I can’t wait to hear about Superman!
Bye for now! See you all tomorrow!

Anita, You're right it is much harder to speak than it is to write. I can write English well, but when I am interviewed on TV or the radio, it is just a mess. What did I do this weekend... On Friday evening, I went on a first date with a nice, cute girl. We went to the rodeo and had fun, but I don't think much will come from it since we are headed to different places. She wants to live in the middle of nowhere; I want to live in the suburbs of a medium to large city. On Saturday, I marched in a parade for the rodeo with a candidate for US Senate that I am volunteering for. Afterwards, I went to the rodeo with the candidate, two of his staffers, and my parents. We had a lot of fun. There were even three sheep dogs who were unleashed to corral some sheep. The funny part about it was that poor monkeys sporting flashy cowboy clothes while donning small cowboy hats were strapped onto the back of the canines. You had to be there! Yesterday, I went to church and to a to listen to a church speaker in the evening.

Dear Anita, You are so brave that you choose to conquer the challenge. As the broadtcast host said , you've been done a great job, using English extremely well. If I was you that time on the radio, I couldn't image how nerves I am. I'm sure you would getting better and better. Best wishes !

Dear Ms Nagy , I think you have good pronanciation ; everybody has an accent . I used to worry how do I talk ,am I sound right. One of my US friends told me that I need just speak without thinkig how do I sound. In my opinion everybody need practice with grammar every day (even native speakers). It was very nice that you had a wonderful weekend . I just read a little bit and walked along the beach - water was quite cold and I have got sore throat now. Take care Best wishes

Hi Anita Thanks for your wishes. My mum and my sister bought a beatiful sleep dress and dressing fabric to me. Tonight I am going to the tailor's for a suit. Nice day

I have a feeling this is way over due but I have been reading your blogs with a keen interest and felt I should say something. :) From someone that couldn't speak a word of English to someone that uses some really colloquial terms, you have progressed so much! It sort of makes me feel really guilty that I didn’t try harder to learn Hungarian – By now (after 5 years of knowing Csilla), I would have been virtually fluent! Good luck with teaching Csilla how to cook though- she should consider learning from you as an honour as yours is the most perfectly cooked cuisine I have ever tasted! - You can help her perfect that cherry cake she made last time :)

Hi Anita. I heard your interview on the web, which I am also fond of, and I thought it was pretty good. I also get cold feet when I have to talk in English specially on the phone!!So dear friend do not worry this tends to be a general feeling shared by foreiggn learners. Why learning a language is so challenging! It would have been so nice if you could find the right teaching language fairy to wave the magic wand of learning!!! I love English and I am aware that I'd never ever be like a native speaker, and it is this realistic view that keeps me going. So don't never give up, the learning is what makes the fun!!

Thanks for all your contributions. This blog has now closed and can no longer accept new comments.
