Shopping and fashion

Today I have to write my entry earlier than yesterday because I know that I will be tired after taking my accounting course.

Our little office, where we have the computer, is next to the kitchen so I can write and in the meantime I can cook. Today I am cooking stew with noodles and mixed vegetables salad. I am simmering the meat now and the salad is ready.

As I mentioned earlier while I am cooking I always listen to the radio. Just imagine, about a half hour ago I heard on to the radio my favourite song from the Beatles, I Should Have Known Better. It is a song that it is not broadcasted very often. As someone has strongly recommended in her comment earlier to sing along a song at least once, so I did. What is more, I danced in the kitchen. Of course, I was alone there so I was not given funny looks by members of my family. I have to admit that it was really fun.

Csilla is flying back to England on Saturday morning. We have still 4 days to spend together. These days seem to be very hectic. She wants to see her hair-dresser to have her hair cut. Then she has already made an appointment to see her dentist. And we have to buy some things that she wants to take with herself to England. Speaking of shopping, I would like to share with you how we bought clothes for my son. September 29th is a public holiday in Slovakia. They celebrate the revolution of 1945. Shops are closed, people do not work this day. So my husband had time for us and we went to Hungary to do the shopping. We wanted to buy some clothes for Peter because all his jeans, shirts and jumpers were outgrown. I think you can imagine that it is hard work for me, shopping with two men and mainly clothes. We always go to the same department store in Hungary because we can buy there all things that we want. We also have a great deal of luck on this day because we ended our shopping within two hours. To tell the truth I am not keen on shopping either. I also hate trying clothes on. I only like buying food at supermarkets.

Talking about fashion, people have various attitudes to fashion in Slovakia. For some it is vital to be dressed in the latest fashion. Others prefer comfortable clothes. Whatever our attitude to fashion is, we all need to have different clothes to wear every day, and something appropriate for special occasions. At home I prefer casual clothes like old jeans, loose T-shirts and slippers. When I go out I dress differently. I wear skirts, trousers, blouses, cardigans. We do not wear national costumes unless it is a very special occasion. How about you? Do you wear traditional dresses? What do you prefer to wear in your everyday life?

I look forward to reading your responses!

Hey Anita, Arrr! Shimber me timbers... it is Talk Like a Pirate Day. However, a scalawag like me on the popdeck crew won't attempt to write like a pirate much today. Fortunately, I do not wear dresses; that would seem rather strange for a man. Right now I wear shorts, t-shirts, and sandals to work. I am very fortunate to have a professional salaried job with benefits that has a lax dress code. I particularly like to wear athletic fit t-shirts that help me look stronger than I actually am. However, the fact that I run six days a week and do push-ups and sit-ups three days a week makes it so the shirts look good on me. Don't get me wrong, I try to dress fashionable. For instance, I went to a luncheon yesterday. I wore a plain red athletic fit t-shirt, gray colored dress slacks with light blue pinstripes, and a tan colored coat. At least I think that that I looked debonair or "GQ." Oh yeah, since you're Hungarian, what do you think about the protests concerning Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany's admission to lying (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/5359250.stm)?

I'd like this commenication because it help me to write some phrases in English Language. In the same time it help me to read and search for a new word.

Very well done. It is always so interesting to read what you write. Enjoy your time with Csilla!!!

I have an easy style ( nothing sophisticated) .Clothes is the last thing I worry about . Some kind of jeans , sweatrs,T-shirts.Skirts ... are very unesay to wear :) That is why sometimes I wear very long skirts .At the country where I was born ,traditional dresses are worn only on the Independence day by performers ( nowdays it is very uncommon ,though). Radio is always on in my house and in the car ( I like talk radio or radio theatre ). Have a nice time at the accounting course . To Csilla - have a safe trip . Best wishes

Hi Anita My traditional costumes is Ao dai (long dress). Ao dai is a beautiful dress of Vietnamese women. It's comfortable and shows the beauty when wearing. So people usually wear Ao dai everyday. I also like shopping with my mum but we often don't go to shopping clothes. In my country, people go to market for meal everyday. So food is new and fresh and it 's good for health. Nice day

Hi Anita ! First of all,i would like to thank you as i have benefited so much from your diligence and hard-working.You are having accounting lesson and English lesson at your spare time simultaneously. I am really motivated by your spirit.I had planned to learn English years ago but as time passing i didn't have much progress. I am making great resolution to improve my English now. Enjoy your stay with your lovely daughter!

Hi Anita ! After present a comment just now,i still want to have a few words about shopping. Quite differen with you, i am completely a shopaholics. I am fond of shopping various clothes from casual jeans to outfits although i am already middle-aged woman with a lovely daughter of 16 years old.I am also keen on buying food in supermarket as well. Shopping can give me good mood, especially we i got a good bargains when shops were having special offer. Sometimes a satisfied cloth can make me thrilled whole day.I like to make myself up to date and fasionable. So every morning i get up earily, after preparing breakfast for family,i would open my cabinet to decide which set of cloth i would wear today, sometime it is difficul to decide. furthermore, all my colleagues prefered to shop with me as i always give them tips for fashion. Best wishes to you and your family!

i usually go shopping with my husband because i do't like driving to a buzzing city.anyway,i would like to take time to shop around for the best deal but my hubby doesn't like to take time or browse around shop at all. he marches into a shop and picks things what he wants and walks away like the wind. he isn't patient with me and gives me nags so we sometimes end up with a quarrel.i think as long as you are sensible enough to look after your money very well a shopping trip should be a pleasant and relaxed time, end.Anita, you said you are not fussy about trying clothes on but i think majority of women like go shopping and buying new clothes talking about the traditional costumes, people in Korea wear them special days like on "new year's day","Chuo Suck" which is similar to thanksgiving and as many korean old women go to a wedding they put them on,too when a baby is one year old he or she is dressed in korean treditional dresses and taken photoes. see you again!

Hi Steve! As for the protests in Budapest, I think everyone has a right to say what he or she thinks. However, I am very sad about the violence. I do not understand why some people want to destroy their own capital city in order to give their opinion.

GOOD EVENING FROM CAIRO!! SHOPPING IS THE MOST INTERESTING THING TO DO ESPECIALLY WHEN ONE HAS A LOT OF MONEY! I AM FOND OF DRESSING IN FORMAL AT ANY TIME IN ANY OCCASION. IN EGYPT AT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE SOMEONE WEARING "TRADITIONAL" COSTUMES. THOSE OF THE ANCIENT EGYPTIANS, WHICH EGYPT IS FAMOUS FOR, ARE ONLY WORE BY ACTORS IN A MOVIE! I BELIEVE IT IS GREAT TO REVIVE THE OLD TRADITIONS, PARTICULARLY CLOTHS.

I like what you writing as i can understand you very clearly.and i like to take comfortable clothe in my private time at my home.but if i go outside,i like to take jeans etc as fahion as it looked .

Hi, Anita! In my everyday life I usually wear jeans and T-shorts, but I also like to put on something different, evening dresses or business costumes for example. It depends on the situation. And beautiful and comfortable clothes make me feel better and improves my mood if necessary. I like shopping with my friends. We always tell each other what suits us and what doesn't.

Thanks for all your contributions. This blog has now closed and can no longer accept new comments.
