Our football
Hi Amy, 蜜芽传媒 team and beloved readers,
What do you think if we talk about football today? What would you think of me if I said that I play football and have a team? No, I’m not talking about the team I support. I mean a group of women and friends that play football here.
Although it’s not a bad idea to have firstly a brief talk about the team I support here in Brazil, especially today.

Have you ever heard anything about “fluminense”. Since a child, I’ve heard the fluminense’s anthem, especially when we have a FLAxFLU match (flamengo x fluminense).
The fluminense’s history (here comes Adriana and the history again...!) is interesting.
In the past, when the English brought the football to Brazil, it was a sport only for the elite and there were no black people playing. There was a lot of racism here(today if you call one of the players black in an offensive way, you can be arrested).
According to the urban legend, in 13th May in 1914, in the first game of fluminense, there was a player called Carlos Alberto who was afraid of showing the colour of his skin due to racism. So he tried to hide it, powder ing a fine powder ( that we women use in our make up) covering the skin of his body. This fine powder here in Brazil was called “p贸 de arroz” or “rice powder”. During the game, he began sweating and the powder was removed from his sking showing his natural colour. So, the crowd started laughing and shouting “ha ha ha... P贸 de arroz! P贸 de arroz!” For this reason, today, one who supports fluminense here is called “p贸 de arroz”.
I’m “p贸 de arroz” and so is our referee:

He is our referee and coach at the same time. Sometimes he forgets he is the referee and thinks he is Dunga, the coach of the national man’s football.
Well, actually we have a lot of coaches when we are playing (for our annoyance at times).

They burst out laughing and saying that we don’t have a certain position in the team and that our games are a mess (this is not true, though, we are far better than they say! ) :-)

Our team began with a hairdresser’s idea of gathering a group of women to play football just to understand why her husband was crazy for football and was not paying attention to her. Now we have a great team mixed of poor, rich, black, white, married, single women...and so on that play at night twice a week following work on the field and on the sand of the beach.

Our team is so successful that it was showed on a sport program on tv here. We have the support of the family and the children go with us and while we play on the filed, they are playing football in a small field by our side.
The only problem is that the field is located inside a school and sometimes the young people like to leave their classes to watch us playing.
Yesterday, it was the birthday of one of the players , the goalkeeper, and we had a special match in the morning with a barbecue and samba for celebration.

Firstly , we met at the square and then we had to find out the place to play. It was hard to do that because we woman sometimes don’t know how to explain how to reach some place.

But we are not desperate people so we just stopped and to relax and some of them danced a bit.

At last we arrived there and we played.

With women, with men:

I missed my football shoes but I didn’t miss the mark.
GGGOOOOOOOOOLLLLL!!! I scored the first goal

It’s really a pleasure to play football. Girls, you should try it! The only disgusting thing is that we cannot play with the jewelleries.
Amy, what do you think of us playing?

Good bye, friends and have a nice week!
As everything in Brazil ends in samba, here are more pictures:

Wow...I have to rush to work!!!

Hello Adriana! Playing football or any other sport is very good. Good for health and good for relationship. It doesn't matter if you are women or men; the important thing is that you enjoy the game. Have a nice week!!!!!!!!!!
simply faaaaaaaaaaantastic! I think you had a wale of a time. I love to play football as I am athletic. I wish I belonged to a football club like you.I go to swim some of my friends three times a week and one of the friends comes to my place 30 minutes early and gives me an English lesson. While I am driving my car to get to the swimming pool they test my acknowledges of idioms, slangS and local dialects and so on.I always feel killing two birds with one stone or more. As I can keep fit, learn English and build up a good friendship with my good friends. I did enjoy today's blog and i would love to thank you for it. see you soon
Hi Adriana!Once I had my team too, young boys only, playing mini-footbal a fancy play among men in towns here. I was a precious person there for any other team had its own doctor. Now I only watch men from my village on the ground below my window almost each day to play. On Sundays they wake me regularly up playing yet real, big match meetings in which this sport developed. However, I am trying to take a model a bit from all persons here on the blog who trains a body, but this learning takes me a lot of time (and is more enjoyable must I say). I appreciate a lot you consider me being a friend. All the best! (A small note: who wants to see what is Ana Paula like, a beautiful woman, go on Flatmate 104)
Hi again Adriana, another thing we have in common. I also root for Fluminense. But I'm not much of a sports fan. I don't even know what its situation is in the national championship. I loved to know about the story of "p贸 de arroz". I had always heard people using this nickname to refer to people who rooted for fluminense, but I never knwew the reason for it. I don't know why Flamengo rooters are called "Urubus" either. Do you happen to know this story too? Adriana, the pictures were great. It looks like you are a great player. Have a good day. Bye.
Wow, Adriana! You麓re a real good goal-shouter! I think it麓s a good idea and you and your team look as a very competitive team :-). Football/soccer is a big theme in Germany as you know. In our soccer league there麓s the question who wins - the bavarians or my favourite team called "Schalke 04" - but I think Schalke would not win because it麓s dramatic - even when they have a chance to reach top of the list they lose... :-( . Dear Adri, Congratulation, you scored first goal on the game in that day. Your team seems to be a cohesive group of woman and enjoy the team event superbly. All photographs you placed in blog are attractive and able to convey good message to us. Story of the fluminense is interesting. Nowadays, cosmetic suppliers in Asian countries started make advertisement for men to use sun cream made for them and stop using made for ladies. Though your country is ahead in playing football, it is really painful to know that men gather together to annoyance your team and it is nice to hear that you get support from family members.
I love Brazilian Football Team. After seeing Photos i was very happy if i was a coach of Your Team.
Hello Adriana!!! What a wonderful Sunday you had. I麓ve played football just few times at school. In fact, I was a catastrophe playing any sport :-). Anyway, you are great! You even scored a goal. Well done Adri! Have a nice week you too. See you soon, Ana Paula.
Hi Adri, I am ashamed and I feel a little bit guilty. While you were overloaded in your work place I was once again one week on holiday. I have been hiking in Bavaria (South East Germany) I鈥檓 sorry. It won鈥檛 happen again until the 27th October ;-) I really like your blogs, and now as I told you, I have stopped reading books for a while. To be able to come again on the track I have printed all blogs, yours and Ami鈥檚, from the beginning of September and I read them in the train going to work. I liked your answer to my question about time, but even if I agree with you that the most important is the results or things done we need to have the possibility (time) to do/make them. That has probably nothing to do with the fact I am European, I think it is more my perfectionist side. You seem to have fun playing football. It is a good activity. I used to play football when I was teenager. But besides the sport aspect the most relevant, I think, is the human relation. To kick the ball becomes secondary. The moments you spend with your friends are mainly the goal, the victory. Have a nice day. Antonio
Hello people!!! I'd like talking to anybody so that I perfect my english and let my level in this language "grow up". Well... I'd like to talk to someone that doesn't hesit in corret me everytime I make a mistake, and please, don't "dump" my asking, please, please, please... Since now, thank you so much.
"What do you think if we talk about football today? What would you think of me if I said that I play football and have a team?" Well, as I read the first sentences I thought if there was any woman to play football it must be you :D You seem to be such an active person. Here in Hungary dentists (and doctors, in general) live quite a hectic life with unpredictable working hours, many would find hard to impossible to fit regular lesiure activities into their schedule. Do you find it hard to manage your time?

Hello, dear Adriana Helena,I find it so wonderful and even comfortable to have two names,so you can be either Adriana or Helena, say,on weekdays when we have to work hard it's good to be a reliable Adriana and at the weekend - easy-going Helena!Once I've met a girl, she was my student,an ordinary Russian girl, who had two names, and was so surprised, couldnt help asking her whether her parents were big fans of Brazilian soap operas, that were popular when she was born and gave her a name of some character from one of them.'No',she said,'they just couldn choose between them, mum wanted me to have one name, dad - the other /sorry,I cant remember her names/,that's why they finally decided to give me both'/!/And she was really happy to have two names!Honestly,I cant imagine how they would sound with patronimic! That's our father's name,it goes between the first name and the last name.Anyway, your both names are beautiful,it could be interesting if you told us about this tradition and why your parents called you like this. ... Your blog is absolutely intriguing, and today's story is really great and inspiring,I'm going swimming tomorrow!
