Tupi or not Tupi that’s the question
*Anauê Amy, ѿý LE and beloved readers,
I think it should be a good idea talking about the Indigenous culture as I have given you an Indigenous recipe from here. I know I have Spanish origin from my father’s family but also Italian and Indigenous origins from my mother’s family. It’s like a milk-shake of cultures in my genes.
In 1500 when the Portugueses came to Brazil, there were between 3 and 5 million Indigenous. Now, there is only 350 thousand. The number of Indigenous was so high that they (all spread around Brazil) spoke 1300 different languages.
Now the small groups of them fight for Indigenous reserves to protect the animals, plants and the environment and also to preserve their culture.
There are Kuikuros and Kamaiuras in Mato Grosso, Asurini in Pará, Aldeia ( or village) Marubo in Amazonas, Aldeia Araweté in Pará and at last Tupi-guaranis in Espírito Santo.
Each group has its particularities: the culture, the way they build their houses, custums and rituals.

Our culture has Indigenous influence as you can see in the food ( moqueca Capixaba) and in the language ( the words nhemnhemnhem, jururu, pixaim, abacaxi, jacaré,tatú, sabiá, cajú, jabuticaba, etc). I think we should study the Tupi language in order to ransom the Indigenous culture. Our history began with the Indigenous and not with the Portugueses and we don’t know much of this history.

The Tupi-guaranis from Espírito Santo live in Aracruz city. They are good in art. They’ve developed this skill because they cannot be involved only in agriculture as in the past.
There is a cotroversy between the Aracruz Celulose company and them over their lands.
Aracruz Celulose is an important company here which advertisements show it as an eco-friendly company but last week began the” semana do verde” or green week exhibition here and many people were in protest because they think the large eucalyptus plantation has been harmful to the environment. So, the Indigenous are not alone in the opinion of what Aracruz Celulose has caused to the Indigenous lands. I think they should rethink that.

There are many cultural, historical and religious celebrations here in which the Indigenous take part as actreeses and actors what is another option for them. Indeed their performance is incredibly good.

They are very serious in what they are involved. I am proud to have Indigenous roots in my genetic. In the pictures they are in a play which tells the history of our city and how the “Convento da Penha” was built. I’m planning to talk about this very soon. The history of Convento da Penha is very interesting.
*Anauê is an Indigenous greeting that means you are my relative
All right, friends, I must go. Have a nice Friday. See you tomorrow

Hello Adri! Thanks for telling us about your roots, I can understand why you are proud of them and I agree with you that the indigenous part of our Brazilian history has to be discovered. The photos you´ve taken give a good impression and you are a good photographer! I don´t know really much about my roots, it is not important to me, I am what I am and my home is were my bed is standing. Of course I also at home on ѿý LE and were my friends are. :-)) Have a nice Weekend, Adri!
Hi Adri! How r u? Hey!!! My mouth is watering to saw your dish, you putted it nicely but it is quite tricky for me because I am alone here. you are looking so gorgeous in your pic but you took it from back side so we are missing your stunning face expression at that moment, anyway I would like to ask you, have you got any fish or not? Hey I am a proud vegetarian and I never eat non-veg food so far, therefore i dont know how it test though you have mentioned it was scrumptious and delicious. Well I am unlucky this time. Hey I am a great friend of Ronaldo, It remain a secrete for us who is your favorite one? Amy is a great fan of Indian food; have you ever test Indian food at there or not? See you soon, Take care Byeeee Manoj Pandey
Hello Adri! It's so nice to read about the groups of indigenous. As always I liked the photos. I would like to ask about what fruit is it in one of those photos? Bye Naheed
Hello, Adriana! I was just catching up on your blog and I must say I'm amazed at you talent as a storyteller and a writer! You have a real flair for it! I was apprehensive and eventually terrified during your narrative of your son's encounter with a pitbull. By the end of the story, I think all of us were as relieved as you that nothing bad happened to your little boy and we thanked God too. You also made me feel relaxed and at ease in you virtual dinner -you are also a very good host ;-) I think your fluency is amazing, Adriana. Even if you make the odd mistake (we are not native speakers, so we cannot help it), you are still fluent and extremely engaging. I wish I had half your fluency. I wonder if you are like that while speaking in English too. I'm asking you that question because I'm appalling at speaking. I feel terribly insecure and my mind always seems to go blank if I meet a native speaker and I get lost for words and begin to stutter and in the end I look really stupid. I'm always terrified to speak English fearing that that might happen. Funnily, the same doesn't happen with German, because I learnt it as a child, so it's already ingrained in me. Do you feel that kind of difficulty while speaking? Have you ever had an embarrassing situation that you could share with us? I guess we would all love to hear it! Best wishes.
Dear Adri, It was really nice to enjoy virtual party arranged by you and I enjoyed it that much I forget to reply my comments on it. I am not a better cook and have very little knowledge about cooking. Yesterday I attended a wedding party given by my colleague on his son’s marriage. I drank four pegs of whisky and enjoyed delicious food there. When you offered virtual party with nice indigenous food and drinks, I could not stop myself to join your party though my stomach full. Thanks to god, I didn’t suffer indigestion problem. Like Brazil Nepalese society is also heterogeneous society with different caste and creed and full of indigenous ethnic groups with their own language, culture, custom and ritual functions. In Nepal every day is festival and ritual function organized by one of ethnic group. Two years ago, people of Nepal participated in agitation against monarchy and decided to make national constitution from the election of constitutional assembly. Nowadays, we are in the process of preparing national constitution through constitutional assembly going to held after two months. Though date is fixed but it is still uncertain because one of the revolutionary force steps down from government and organizing street agitation. Is it the same story in your country? People are taking about greenery because they want to make green dollar.
Hello Adri! The Indigenous are fascinating people. Although our country culture owes too much for the Indigenous, Brazil doesn´t pay much attention to their needs, regarding them as an 'inconvenient matter'. Many of them are unemployed. Therefore, the number of alcoholics has increased considerably among Indigenous people, and making the social inclusion gap become an abism, in which is really difficult to find out a solution in a short-term. See you tomorrow, Ana Paula. PS-I´m looking forward to reading your blog about Convento da Penha.
Hi Adri, Your blog about indigenous different cultures is very interesting. I think that the situation is quite comparable with some other countries that where “discovered” by the Spaniards.
hi how do you do are you and your likeable ok.thanks very i really amusing with your blog that become more and more difficult you really use strange word and phrase .i think you guess my opinion about religion, let imagine we suppose there are no knid of the religions what happend ,indigenous must study/grow up and look at the future not only bond themselves with the rituals its very difrent between religion ritual and BREZILIAN festivals that i like very much in the end do you know much of the their rituals were ended by sacrifice. dont let the past calling the shots in your life this my opinion but i never can realise of my past but really believe that if i could leave them behind not only became more happy but also i would can live more succesfully any way why you avoid to share a pic only show your self exactly you know i quess which of them are you e.g a woman angling that only clear his back is you or in the pics about football a woman who worn a white t.shirt .is it ok ? thanks i very like to have trip in BRESIL and in FUTURE i would manage to do. what about you would you like come here to see the end of religon and alot of kind of ritual real one not for watch thanks again god bless you
