I
woke early to get to Heathrow. British Airways are big sponsors
for the Taste of Britain festival so I had been confident that 'the
world's favourite airline' would be expecting me.....how wrong I
was.
After a foggy, damp squib of a drive we
arrived only to be told at check-in that I would be lucky to
get a seat and had been dropped to "standby". Great start -
not. |

After
a foggy, damp squib of a drive we arrived only to be told at check-in
that I would be lucky to get a seat and had been dropped to "standby".
Great start - not.
Panic set in as I needed to be preparing in the kitchens within
18 hours for an opening press launch.
Frantic
calls to India and the problem was quickly solved by the High Commission
and I was even promoted to First Class!
Early
morning
The flight arrived on time in the early morning hours in Delhi and
yet the place was heaving with masses of people. The noise and hum
of taxi horns quite deafening.
The
car met me with the Sheraton Chef on board and we travelled for
about 30 minutes to the hotel - in the diplomatic area of the city.
It was a warm and sultry night with a haze ever present even at
3am. After only three hours sleep I donned my chef's outfit and
made my way to the kitchens - an amazing sight was to greet me there
that I just hadn't imagined.
India's
Richard and Judy
Find
out later this week how the first day in the kitchens go and the
big Press Conference and my appearance on Indias Richard and Judy!!!
