A concert performed by children, with ages ranging from 6 to 18, has been hailed as a huge success.

Held on the fourth and final day of the Youth Makes Music festival, the event is widely seen as a fitting end to a week of high quality music
making.

Over the course of the week, groups including the Gloucestershire Youth Jazz Orchestra, Gloucestershire Youth Orchestra and the many area orchestras and wind bands all took part in concerts, playing a variety of music from Blues
to Beethoven to Harry Potter!

"Stunning"

The week culminated in the "Music Centres Prom", in which the four Gloucestershire music centres combined to produce a concert that mimicked the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Last Night of the Proms, with favourites including "Jerusalem" and "Land of Hope and Glory".

The leader of one music centre described the evening as "stunning" and later stated that it had been the best one to date.

Inspiration

The Youth Makes Music week is placed annually just before the Cheltenham Music Festival, in which internationally acclaimed musicians and orchestras meet for a week of concerts and shows.

It is these concerts, especially when they are placed next to an international festival, that inspire young musicians to continue with their
musical education.

As one music centre leader put it in a build up to his orchestra's performance on stage, like a general rallying his troops, "This is the
highlight of the music calendar for us. You've all worked exceptionally hard for it".
