On the 15 September 1994, Iraqi-born architect Zaha Hadid won a design competition to build an opera house in Cardiff Bay. But her triumph was short-lived, and in the manner of a grand opera, the plot would have many twists and turns. Former Welsh Secretary and Chair of the Cardiff Bay Opera House Trust, Lord Crickhowell, retells the story of the doomed project.
