Elizabeth Alker showcases the best performances by ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ orchestras, choirs, ensembles and other great performing groups from Europe and around the globe.

We continue our focus this week on the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ National Orchestra of Wales with the First Symphony by Grace Williams, the 20th-century Welsh composer whose music the orchestra is currently championing. And Caribbean violinist Ellinor D’Melon is the soloist in Felix Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in a concert recorded last year in Swansea.

There’s also more chamber music from last year’s Belfast Music Society International Festival, with Irish soprano Ailish Tynan performing a set of Richard Strauss’s most beloved songs, and trumpeter Simon Höfele playing Takemitsu’s musical memorial to fellow composer Witold Lutoslawski.
