Len Pennie at the Edinburgh Fringe with comedians John Tothill, Lulu Popplewell and Victoria Melody.
Len is joined by three comedians whose shows reflect on personal experiences, John Tothill, Lulu Popplewell (who was a child actor in Love Actually) and Victoria Melody.
Len Pennie hosts an audience show from the EICC during the Edinburgh Festivals to discuss the personal experiences which informed comedy shows by John Tothill, Lulu Popplewell and Victoria Melody.
John Tothill contracted malaria as part of a paid medical trial to fund the show, which then backfired as it raged much worse than the doctors anticipated. Then his appendix nearly burst while he was performing on stage. He talks about how these experiences have impacted his experience and motivation at the Fringe.
Lulu Popplewell, who played Emma Thompson's daughter in Love Actually, returns to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with a new hour of jokes about love, obsession and raccoons as she tries to answer the question, 'is love just a form of mental illness?' She also talks about how her experience with romantic relationships lead her to creating and developing her comedy show.
Victoria Melody went through a divorce and joined a historical re-enactment society in a move to find new paths in life, which lead her to discover the 17th-century radicals the Diggers, and how their legacy lives on in modern-day grassroots communities. She talks about how her life experience lead her onto a new career path.
