Norman Lebrecht talks to the Iranian-born harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani about receiving his first tuition on the piano from his father, and how he took an interest on the harpsichord as a teenager in America; Mahan recalls his experience as a member of Radio 3's New Generation Artist scheme, which he joined in 2009, and about giving the first ever harpsichord recital at the Proms two years later; he explains how important it is for the harpsichord to commission new work from composers, which he has done, and about life in Prague, where he resides now - and about taking recently Czech citizenship.
