Episode 16

A huge 300-year-old mill has become a dumping ground for treasures and valuable heirlooms. A couple need to sell inherited items to fund the restoration of their beautiful home.

Barbara and Richard’s home has become filled with other people’s belongings. Both have suffered heartache following tragic family losses and have inherited the possessions of loved ones. However, the couple’s home is unlike any other – It’s a huge, three-storey, 18th-century mill. It’s packed with antique furniture, jewellery, keepsakes and other heirlooms, intertwining two families’ histories within the mill’s walls.

The mill is not only where Barbara and Richard live. It’s also home to their business. They’ve converted part of it into a busy wedding venue, but the building still requires more work to reach its full potential. By selling some of the inherited items, they hope to raise the funds needed to complete this incredibly ambitious project.

Auctioneer JB's challenge is to find and identify the most valuable pieces among the hundreds of possibilities, including an incredible collection of jewellery and some stunning antique furniture. Barbara’s parents lived in locations around the world while they worked for the British government, and their former belongings have a strong international flavour.

A rare and much sought-after 1970s bike, showing the signs of time, keeps restorer Lauren busy. She also tackles a pair of armchairs and a chest of drawers that won’t open.

Can the team raise enough money at auction for Richard and Barbara’s lofty ambitions, or will home comforts be the order of the day?
