Contemporary and classic tracks from around the world. Playlist at bbcworldservice.com
This week’s programme starts with a game of stage personas: the multi-talented Moondog invariably dressed as a Norse God (that’s why they called him the Viking of 6th Avenue), and Spanish singer Tonino Carotone who fancies himself as a Neapolitan tough-guy. Two female singers follow, the star of traditional Sardinian music Elena Ledda and Isaar from Brazil, formerly of Comadre Florzinha band. Charlie finishes the programme with two of his current favourites: a UK-Ethiopian project A Town Called Addis and a debut album by the Kenyan singer and guitarist Stan Nganga.
