
Endangered ibis
Fertiliser and insecticides have boosted agricultural production around the Mediterranean, but these chemicals unfortunately also cause the death of birds. The bald ibis is threatened by this. They once lived widely over Europe, but now there are only a few left in Turkey and a small colony on sea cliffs in Morocco. This species only seems to thrive in the warm, dry Mediterranean climate, so it has nowhere else to go.
