
Salsa - an introduction
The major stylistic features of salsa are illustrated together with an explanation of the different ways in which it can be performed according to context. Artistic director of RJC Dance Company Edward Lynch reveals what drew him to the style and what he finds so inspiring about it. Lynch highlights rhythm, style and timing as being most important in learning salsa. He explains how he develops his own personal interpretation of the style. We see a short excerpt from RJC's piece 'Passionelle' where jazz has been fused with salsa to produce a dynamic and theatrical version.
