Dance fusion - 'Jiving Lindy Hoppers'

Similarities and differences between Irish, rhythm, tap and African dance are explained and illustrated using short excerpts of repertoire. Artistic director Carolene Hinds provides an insight into the 'Jiving Lindy Hoppers' piece 'Flying ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'. We see short sections of the dance styles included in the show with an explanation of the unique stylistic features and the commonalities which form the basis for the fusion. Use of fast footwork is highlighted with brief snippets of Irish soft and hard shoe dances as well as tap. African dancer Francis Angol points out the essential differences between the use of beat in African and western styles.
