68. May - Wishing for rain

Down to earth on growing your own fruit and vegetables with allotment gardener Terry Walton, from his plot in the Rhondda Valley

Down to earth on growing your own fruit and vegetables with allotment gardener Terry Walton, from his plot in the Rhondda Valley.
After weeks of unbroken sunshine the plot is thirsty and Terry is getting his exercise keeping his crops well watered.
It's time to plant out the French beans and runner beans, all 80 plants are ready to go in the ground. The bean poles are in place ready to develop Terry's Wall of Beans. The heat has brought the courgette plants on quickly and the threat of frost is over so it's time to plant them out too, leaving plenty of space for them to grow.
