Donald Trump has said he doesn't want a wasted meeting with President Putin after his officials rowed back on plans for a summit between the USA and Russia. We look at where the US administration's efforts might go from here.

US Vice-President JD Vance is in Israel as part of the Trump administration's efforts to strengthen the Gaza ceasefire deal. Ahead of talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he said the ceasfire deal is going better than expected. He did not give a deadline for Hamas to disarm.

And we have a report from Maiduguri, in north-eastern Nigeria, where the government has been fighting an insurgency by Islamist militant groups for the past fifteen years.
