Sheila Dillon discusses pies.
What makes the perfect pie? As the Melton Mowbray Pork Pie awaits its "Protected Geographical Indication" status defining where, and how the pies can be made, Sheila Dillon asks if anything can legislate for quality?

Reporter Dominic Prince visits Appleton’s Pork Pie shop in Ripon,Yorkshire and talks to owner Roger Gaunt, where they stay small to concentrate on quality.

Sheila Dillon visits Melton Mowbray to find out the story of its PGI application, and meets Matthew O’Callaghan, Chairman, of the Melton Mowbray Pork Pie Association, Stephen Hallam, of Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe, and Ian Hartland, from Mrs Elizabeth King’s Pork Pies.

And she asks studio guests Irene Bochetta, EU Protected Food Names Manager, Food from Britain, who promotes the EU protected names scheme in the UK, and Suzanne Wynn, chair of Slow Food UK’s Ark of Taste what such schemes offer the consumer.
