Sheila Dillon discusses potatoes.
Sheila Dillon looks at their history - their arrival in Europe and economic significance; discusses the growing popularity of "Heritage" potatoes; and attends a potato master class in the kitchen of chef and food writer, Simon Hopkinson, to sample some of his simple but exotic potato dishes; Saffron Mash, Pink Fir Apple Potato Salad and Janssens Temptation.

Sheila Dillon is joined in the studio by John Reader, author of The Untold History of the Potato, Alan Wilson, Technical Manager for Agronomy for Waitrose, Anthony Carroll, owner of Carroll’s Heritage potatoes based in the River Till Valley in Northumberland.

Reporter, Tom Moggach visits a potato fair in London.
